La Villa Medicea di Seravezza, nota come Palazzo Mediceo, fu eretta tra il 1561 e il 1565 su ordine di Cosimo I De'Medici, Granduca di Toscana, come dimora temporanea da utilizzare durante i soggiorni in Versilia per controllare l'attività estrattiva delle cave di marmo e delle miniere di argento.
La corte interna del palazzo ospita un antico pozzo, che rappresenta l'elemento architettonico centrale.
Questa corte funge da punto di aggregazione e dà spazio espositivo durante gli eventi culturali.
Il palazzo è strutturato su tre piani; il piano terra Ospita l'Archivio Storico e la Biblioteca Comunale Sirio Giannini, oltre agli uffici della Fondazione Terre Medicee che ne gestisce le attività.
Il primo piano, noto anche come Piano Nobile, è sede di eventi culturali e mostre temporanee nel corso dell'anno.
Al secondo piano: dal 1996 è stato allestito il museo del lavoro e delle tradizioni popolari della Versilia storica contribuendo alla conservazione e alla valorizzazione del patrimonio culturale toscano. In passato l'ultimo piano era destinato ad ospitare la servitù. Il Palazzo Mediceo di Seravezza è caratterizzato dall'assenza di affreschi interni, un tratto distintivo rispetto
alle altre ville Medicee, dalle quali si distingue anche per la sua architettura semplice e solida.
Nel 2013 è stato riconosciuto come Patrimonio Mondiale dell'Umanità e Inserito nel sito seriale delle 'Ville e Giardini Medicei della Toscana'.
Di fianco alla villa si trova una piccola Chiesa, comunemente chiamata la 'Cappellina', edificata alcuni anni dopo il Palazzo ormai sconsacrata e ospita attualmente caffetteria ed aperta durante la stagione estiva.

The Museum of Work is housed on the second floor of the Palazzo Mediceo in Seravezza, built by order of Cosimo I de' Medici to protect the iron mine. With its simple architecture, almost like a fortified villa, it was for many years the summer residence of the Medici, the Habsburg-Lorraine and other noble Tuscan families. With the Kingdom of Italy it became the seat of the Town Hall, until 1966. Today the Palace houses, in addition to the Museum, the Sirio Giannini Municipal Library, the Historical Archive and important exhibitions of modern and contemporary art. #Inaugurated in 1996, it is the result of years of field research that led to the collection of almost two thousand objects, evidence of the main and traditional activities of Historic Versilia. Territory that today includes the Municipalities of Seravezza, Stazzema, Pietrasanta and Forte dei Marmi, once administered by the Captaincy of Pietrasanta, former clave of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany. Throughout the year the museum offers guided tours and educational and recreational workshops are organized for the younger ones. In the bookshop of Palazzo Mediceo visitors can find books dedicated to the museum and nice gadgets.

The museum is divided into eleven rooms, each of which is dedicated to a specific theme. In addition to the rooms intended to house tools, equipment and accessories related to the main jobs (agriculture, mining, sculpture, weaving, etc.), there is also a room where it is possible to appreciate objects, furnishings and tools of daily life at home and one dedicated to the territory.

During the 1960s, the Municipal Administration of Seravezza decided to establish a public library in its municipality. The renovation work on the building that would house the library, located in Via del Greco, began in 1967, the year in which the library also received its first book collection, and was completed the following year.

It was decided to name the library after the citizen Sirio Giannini, author of short stories and novels, born in 1925 and who died prematurely in 1960. The short life of this writer is emblematic of the times in which he lived: born into a modest family, he was mostly self-taught and with effort and intellectual perseverance he managed to master the expressive means so much so as to win the Hemingway prize in 1956 with the unpublished novel 'La valle bianca'. His commitment was not only cultural, but also political: in 1956 he became Councilor for Public Education of the Municipality of Seravezza, where he worked for the social and cultural emancipation of the working classes.

The library was officially inaugurated by the authorities in 1969 with a documentary heritage of approximately 3300 volumes and quickly became a meeting place and point of reference for the community, a meeting place for students and users of all ages.

In 1974, with a view to improving services, a paper catalogue by author and subject was created together with a second large endowment of books that increased especially the sections of Pedagogy, Italian Literature and History of the Resistance; in the same period the library promoted cultural initiatives, exhibitions and concerts.

Given the rapid increase in the library collection, in 1984 the municipal administration decided to move the library to the ground floor of Palazzo Mediceo, which was appropriately renovated and furnished to house it.

The library was organized by sections according to a classification scheme in line with the indications of the Versiliese Library System. In 1994, however, computerized cataloging was started with the ABITO project provided by the Tuscany Region, which allowed the catalog to be put online and participation in the CUT (Tuscan Single Catalogue).

In the following years, the commitment to increase and update the book collection continued – reaching approximately 13,400 units in 1997 – with particular attention to the local section and the section on the marble industry, demonstrating the attention dedicated to the history and traditions of the community to which the library belongs.

The Historical Archive of the Municipality of Seravezza was also transferred to the same building, organized and divided into two main sections: the pre-unification section, inventoried and with the inventory in the process of being published, and the post-unification section, still being inventoried by specialized personnel from the Province.

The library currently holds approximately 29,000 volumes and 300 DVDs belonging to the Multimedia Section inaugurated in 2010, and provides its users with various services, such as local and interlibrary loans, the use of reading rooms for consultation, reading and study, assistance and help with bibliographic research, reference, photocopying and printing services, and the Internet.

It also promotes cultural activities related to books and reading, with particular attention to children and young people.

Furthermore, with the creation of the new provincial library network RE.PRO.LU.NET to which the Sirio Giannini Library has joined, and the adoption of the Sebina cataloguing software with the consequent entry into SBN (National Library Service), users have been offered the possibility of consulting the online catalogue directly from the OPAC of the SBN Hub in Lucca.
