The Municipal Library, established since 1919 in the current site of Piazza Marconi, represents after the recent renovation in 2018 by the architect Michelangelo Chiti a true jewel in the crown for the city. Inspired by the avant-garde models of the Nordic and American countries, it boasts an advanced technological system with tablets and computers and is able to offer innovative and immersive experiences to its users.
The Library has a collection of approximately 17,500 items of various expressions of contemporary culture, divided into modern collections, monographs, periodicals, sound documents, audiovisual documents, periodicals in foreign languages and for the visually impaired.
Inside there are two reading rooms, one of which is specifically designed for children and teenagers from 0 to 13 years old, with custom-made furnishings and a rich library collection specifically for this age group.
The suspended sculpture by sculptor Emanuele Giannelli overlooks the Courtyard, the vertical garden inside the Library, a dedicated space with a bar and comfortable informal seating, capable of hosting small events, book presentations and readings.
