On the road from San Baronto to Vinci, surrounded by a splendid landscape, you come across the ancient medieval village of Porciano.

The town is still characterised today by the two nuclei formed around two towers and the church of San Giorgio and developed around the defensive structures built by the Guidi counts at the beginning of the 13th century.

The identifying symbol of Porciano are the two Towers (the 'upper tower' and the 'lower tower') and probably date back to the thirteenth century.

Together with the Collececioli tower and the existing fortification on the Montefiori hill, the two towers were an integral part of a defensive system guarding the valley below.

The towers have a square plan while their current height is about half of the original one. They represent the two poles around which, over time, the town of Porciano has been formed.
