Designed between the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries by the architect Sangallo, the Medici Villa of Poggio a Caiano is truly a masterpiece. This building is considered a rarity since it was a holiday resort and a place of land administration, open and free from attacks, which is the reason why it has not fortifications. Today is a UNESCO site and its splendor is still endless. Its elegant halls are marvelous and its garden and the lemon house are delightful. The Medici family’s passion for nature and botany is also shown in the Still life museum. In this place there are also the Medici stables, where horses and knights used to rest and where now you can find twentieth-century artist Ardengo Soffici’s works, in a museum dedicated to him.
