Piovono Caccole. Una storia di amicizia

The municipal library draws its origins from the volumes confiscated from the library of the Convent of Colleviti by the government of the Kingdom of Italy in 1867 and from some legacies of illustrious citizens of Pescia. In the early twentieth century the 'Magnani Library' had become a true center of culture. Local and Tuscan scholars met in the consultation rooms: Carlo Nardini, Guido Biagi, Giorgio Magnani, Ugo Ojetti and Lorenzo Viani. Thanks to acquisitions of funds, manuscripts and private collections, the library's heritage has become increasingly considerable, both for its value and for the number of volumes and documents, so much that started to be known beyond the borders of the Valdinievole. Since 1999, the library has moved to Villa Sismondi, the residence of the Geneva economist J. Ch. Seismonde de Sismondi.

What is the Children's library of Pescia? First of all, it is a bright place where you can find answers to the curiosities of children, but also parents. The Library is located at the Limonaia of Villa Sismondi, reserved exclusively for children and girls, a place to inform themselves, to do researches but also a place to meet other kids, to do funny workshops with some friends and, in these times of anticovid behavior, it's not a small thing. In order to allow children to have many opportunities for individual and small group researches, encouraging new, creative and inventive ideas, the library will help them to find the correct information, both on books and on the internet, so they can be easy to find, easy to understand and to compare even with paper texts.
