A cent'anni dalla scomparsa di Armando Spadini, protagonista della pittura italiana del primo Novecento, un convegno di studi ne celebra e approfondisce l'opera, restituendone la complessità e l'attualità. Curato da Gaia Bindi, Paolo Bolpagni, Giovanna Uzzani e Michele Amedei, il convegno porta il titolo 'Acuto senso e profondo amore', tratto dall'epigrafe commemorativa voluta da Felice Carena nel 1925 all'Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze.
Le sessioni si terranno il 24 novembre a Firenze, il 25 novembre alla Fondazione Ragghianti di Lucca e, nel pomeriggio conclusivo, al museo 'Soffici e del '900 italiano' di Poggio a Caiano, con collegamento in streaming fra i tre centri. Studiosi e istituzioni indagheranno l'eredità artistica di Spadini, figura centrale del panorama fiorentino e romano, la cui pittura intima e luminosa fu accostata a quella di Pierre-Auguste Renoir.
Tra i relatori figurano, oltre ai curatori, Manuel Carrera, Francesco De Carolis, Benedetta Fanciulli, Cristina Frulli, Elena Lazzarini, Elena Marconi, Marco Moretti, Giovanni Occhini, Agnese Sferrazza, Carlo Sisi e Valentina Zucchi; le conclusioni saranno affidate a Mirella Branca, con le sessioni presiedute da Susanna Ragionieri, Paolo Bolpagni e Giovanna Uzzani.
«Il Comune di Poggio a Caiano – spiega l'assessore alla cultura Diletta Bresci – aveva da tempo proposto di celebrare il centenario di Spadini, pittore legato al nostro territorio per le origini poggesi della madre e per l'amicizia con Ardengo Soffici. Le sue spoglie mortali riposano nel nostro cimitero, di fronte a quelle dell'amico».
Il convegno è promosso dall'Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze, dalla Fondazione Ragghianti di Lucca e dal museo 'Soffici e del '900 italiano'. Gli atti saranno pubblicati nei 'Quaderni sofficiani', che tornano con il numero 20.
Il venerdì precedente al convegno, gli amministratori poggesi renderanno omaggio alla tomba dell'artista con una deposizione floreale.

The Ardengo Soffici and 20th-century Italian Museum exhibits paintings by the great artist, intellectual and art critic Ardengo Soffici, from various public and private collections, presented in an extensive review from 1904 to the 1960s. It is possible to permanently follow the creative story and the stylistic contribution of this artist with a European nature, even more significant for having maintained a profile well rooted in his land. The Museum is located on the first floor of the restored Medici Stables, where there is also the 'F. Inverni ' library, which preserves a specific section and an archive of images dedicated to the artist. The museum was inaugurated on May 16, 2009, two years after the important exhibition 'Soffici 1907-2007. One hundred years after his return to Italy ', organized on the occasion of the artist's return to Poggio a Caiano after his long stay in Paris. There are about 40 works preserved in these rooms, to which the ones exhibited on the occasion of temporary exhibitions are added year after year. Alongside the paintings, the museum exhibits some of the magazines in which Soffici collaborated with writings and drawings, which confirm the strong personality of the artist and his role in the artistic and literary society of the time.

Permanent exhibition inside the 'Ardengo Soffici and the Italian Twentieth Century' Museum. The permanent exhibition reconstructs the artist's pictorial process, through forty main works of the various artistic movements embraced by the painter, from 1904 to 1962, and characteristic of his style. Coming from public and private collections, they will remain on loan for use by the Municipality of Poggio a Caiano. The exhibition wants to be a center of visual documentation and a point of reference for a reinterpretation of this artist in the context of the European culture. At the Medici Stables you can also visit a specialized library with the first editions of the Tuscan artist's printed works, a collection of the critical bibliography, the complete series of magazines directed by him and the ones with which he collaborated (in particular Leonardo, La Voce, Lacerba, Rete Mediterranea, Galleria) and an archive of images and documents related to him.
