Venerdì 9 maggio alle ore 21.00 il Museo della Città e del Territorio ospiterà la presentazione della tesi di laurea della dott.ssa Chiara Bambagioni 'La tutela del patrimonio culturale immateriale: la religiosità popolare connessa all'arte sacra nel territorio di Monsummano Terme'. Un tema di particolare interesse in un luogo dove la devozione popolare e le tradizioni assumono un forte valore identitario della nostra comunità

Housed since 1998 in the historical Osteria dei Pellegrini, the Museum of the City and Territory documents Monsummano Terme's history, the devotion to the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Fontenuova, and the development of the spas and modern industries. It recounts the Valdinievole's evolution and the transformation of the countryside following the land reclamation work in the Fucecchio Marshes.

The museum's scientific character is brought out in the Sky Room, a room dedicated to Galileo's discoveries followed in the tour by the planetarium.

In 2001, the museum received a special commendation under the aegis of the European Museum of the Year (EMYA) award. It has been recognized as a Museum of Regional Importance since 2012.
