The Church of San Michele Arcangelo in Corsanico, a small jewel of history and faith located in the heart of this charming village, tells a thousand-year-old story that blends with the succession of centuries.

Of the ancient construction of 1270, only the bell tower remains, recognized as a national monument. The church itself is a modern reconstruction, which took place in 1848. However, its historical importance is demonstrated by the presence of an ancient baptismal font, which underlines the central role that the church of Corsanico has had in past centuries.

Unfortunately, many documents dating back to before the 16th century were lost during historical events, such as the descent of Charles VIII in 1494 and a subsequent fire in the Parish Archives caused by lightning. However, later records show that the font served many surrounding communities until 1939.

An important recognition was given to the church in 1946, when it was elevated to the title and honor of Pieve, a recognition of its ancient spiritual lordship. A crucial role in the spiritual fabric of Corsanico was also played by the Confraternity of San Michele Arcangelo, founded in the 15th century.

Over the course of its history, the church has undergone many transformations and changes. The organ, for example, built by Vincenzo Colonna between 1602 and 1606 for the church of San Francesco in Lucca, was later moved to Corsanico in 1886. Today, the organ is considered a work of art, with 829 pipes that make up its sound part, dating between the 17th and 19th centuries.

The Church of San Michele Arcangelo in Corsanico continues to live and breathe its thousand-year history, welcoming believers and visitors with its majesty and the richness of its traditions. Every summer, the organ of the imposing building hosts internationally renowned concerts, giving anyone who approaches it a unique experience that combines the beauty of art and spirituality.
