The community of Capezzano originated in the 15th century, with the construction of some inns along the Via Francigena, near ancient Etruscan and Roman settlements. The village saw an increase in the settled population at the beginning of the 19th century after the reclamation works of the surrounding plain were completed at the end of the previous century.
In the early 1880s, the church dedicated to Our Lady of the Sacred Heart was built and the Parish was created, freeing it from the Pieve di Camaiore.
The facade, entirely plastered, is divided into a triangular pediment supported by two pairs of giant pilasters placed on the sides; in the center opens the important entrance portal framed in marble, of interesting workmanship. The building, with a rectangular plan and with the major axis oriented to the south-east, has a single nave that ends in a tribune and has a side chapel that opens on the left side with respect to the entrance and approximately halfway along the nave. The interior of the church is marked by an architectural stucco seclusion, with columns and pilasters in Corinthian style and the architectural decorations, of good quality, which continue painted on the barrel vault with nails.

Facade
The facade, entirely plastered, is defined by a classical architectural layout in mortar that is articulated in a triangular pediment supported by two pairs of giant pilasters placed on the sides. In the central span of the moldings define a blind arcade in the center of which opens the entrance portal framed in marble and concluded by a cymatium supported by modillions with acanthus leaves.

Plant
The building has a rectangular plan shape, with the major axis oriented from south-east to north-west, and the entrance in the latter position. The interior is divided into a single nave, composed of three bays, a tribune and a side chapel.

Tribune
The tribune, slightly narrower than the nave, has a square plan and is separated from the hall by a serliana system that is projected, with pilasters, onto the back wall and the side walls so that beyond the trabeation, pendentives are created on which the covering dome is set. The tribune is configured as a true main chapel.

Presbytery
The presbytery is housed in the tribune and is raised by two steps from the hall.

Structural system
The structural parts of the building consist of: continuous masonry, transverse arches, arches, chains and wooden frameworks.
