The oratory dedicated to Maria Santissima della Stella, which is located at the end of a block in the historic center of Camaiore, was built on the initiative of the Confraternity of Nostra Donna della Stella at the end of the 15th century; on the east side of the building there was originally the hospice for the poor and pilgrims of S. Maria della Stella, which also existed since the 15th century. The rectangular façade, abnormal compared to the proportions of the building and with a sail at the end, is a recent work and is resolved with Doric-style pilasters and concluded by an entablature surmounted by an attic with a statue of the Madonna in the center. In the middle of the front opens the beautiful marble entrance portal, original in the exhibits, to which the overlying volutes were added later. In line with the entrance there is an orbicular window filled in to accommodate the organ in the counterfaçade. The building, with a rectangular plan with the main axis oriented to the north-east, is divided internally by a system of columns and pilasters in the hall and a main chapel covered by a ribbed vault.

Facade
The rectangular façade is resolved, and articulated, by an architectural apparatus in mortar, where Doric-style pilasters configure it as a single span concluded by an entablature, beyond which there is an attic closed on the sides by plinths surmounted by acroterial vases and in the center a pseudo-fingered with the statue of the Madonna della Stella. In the center opens the entrance portal, framed in marble and concluded by a cymatium, on which are placed two volutes that enclose a statue of a Saint. In line with the entrance there is a closed orbicular window.

Plant
The building has a rectangular plan shape with the major axis oriented from north-east to south-west and the entrance in the latter position. The interior is divided by a system of columns and pilasters into a hall and a main chapel.

Presbytery
The presbytery is housed in the main chapel and is raised by one step from the floor of the hall.

The liturgical adaptation intervention, with a temporary character, has seen the wooden celebration altar placed in front of the historic high altar and in direct contact with the pavement. On the left, leaning against the balustrade, a wooden lectern serves as an ambo; while on the predella of the historic high altar, a chair is used as the celebrant's seat. The Eucharistic reserve has remained in use, that of the marble tabernacle of the historic high altar.

Structural system
The structural parts of the building consist of continuous masonry, columns, arches, transverse arches, beams, vaults and wooden floors.

Coverings
The roof covering is made of terracotta tiles and bricks.

Floors and paving
The building is paved in white and grey marble.

Decorative elements
The interior of the building is marked and articulated by a plastic stucco architectural apparatus that sees columns and pilasters, in Doric style, defining the square space of the main chapel through the configuration of the serliana motif. The chapel is covered by a ribbed vault. The hall is divided into three bays by a system of pilasters and is covered by a barrel vault with nails.

Choir
The choir is placed on the counter-facade, is entirely made of wood and is supported by two brackets. The parapet, painted and divided into panels, has a polygonal extroflexion in the center.

Bell tower
The bell tower rises against the right side of the building and is aligned with the façade plan. Entirely plastered, it is provided with mortar bosses that mark the corners, while moldings, also in mortar, decorate the archivolted openings of the bell chamber. Finally, the tower is crowned by a balustrade with plinths.
