The Pieve di Santo Stefano di Versilia is a church of Romanesque origin located in Vallecchia, a hamlet of the municipality of Pietrasanta. Like many parish churches, it is located along the Via Francigena, which passes right in front of its facade. The bell tower is on the right and was renovated in the first decade of the 21st century.
The first information about the parish church dates back to a document from 881 AD and later to the papal bulls, where the church is generically called Pieve di Versilia. Only after several years is it established as Pieve di Vallecchia. The foundations of the complex date back to the 8th century AD, while the current architecture is from the 11th century.
