Housed since 1998 in the historical Osteria dei Pellegrini, the Museum of the City and Territory documents Monsummano Terme's history, the devotion to the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Fontenuova, and the development of the spas and modern industries. It recounts the Valdinievole's evolution and the transformation of the countryside following the land reclamation work in the Fucecchio Marshes.

The museum's scientific character is brought out in the Sky Room, a room dedicated to Galileo's discoveries followed in the tour by the planetarium.

In 2001, the museum received a special commendation under the aegis of the European Museum of the Year (EMYA) award. It has been recognized as a Museum of Regional Importance since 2012.

Venerdì 27 marzo alle ore 17.00 il Museo della Città e del Territorio inaugurerà la sua nuova mostra documentaria. Voci dal chiostro. Antichi monasteri in Valdinievole, aprirà le porte dei monasteri femminili del nostro territorio. Imponenti complessi architettonici, luoghi di preghiera, di cultura, arte o addirittura scelta radicale di libertà. La mostra nasce da un'idea della Professoressa Giuseppina Carla Romby, con i contributi di Mons. Alberto Tampellini e del Prof. Paolo Vitali.
