Admire the majesty of the Medici architecture, immerse yourself in the lush gardens and let yourself be transported back in time among the frescoed rooms.
Today, the Palace is a cultural treasure open to the public, offering a fascinating journey into the history of the Medici family and the region.
A unique experience that will envelop you in the Renaissance elegance of Seravezza.
The Medici Villa of Seravezza, known as the Palazzo Mediceo, was built between 1561 and 1565 by order of Cosimo I De'Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany, as a temporary residence to be used during stays in Versilia to monitor the mining activity of the marble quarries and silver mines.
The internal courtyard of the palace houses an ancient well, which represents the central architectural element.
This courtyard serves as a gathering point and provides exhibition space during cultural events.
The building is structured on three floors; the ground floor houses the Historical Archive and the Sirio Giannini Municipal Library, as well as the offices of the Terre Medicee Foundation which manages its activities.
The first floor, also known as the Piano Nobile, hosts cultural events and temporary exhibitions throughout the year.
On the second floor: since 1996 the museum of work and popular traditions of historic Versilia has been set up, contributing to the conservation and enhancement of the Tuscan cultural heritage. In the past, the top floor was intended to house the servants. The Palazzo Mediceo in Seravezza is characterized by the absence of internal frescoes, a distinctive feature compared to
to the other Medici villas, from which it also stands out for its simple and solid architecture.
In 2013 it was recognized as a World Heritage Site and included in the serial site of the 'Medici Villas and Gardens of Tuscany'.
Next to the villa there is a small church, commonly called the 'Cappellina', built a few years after the Palace, now deconsecrated and currently houses a cafeteria and is open during the summer season.
