the Casotto Verde (Casotto del Biagiotti), which has been transformed into a wildlife observatory; through screened slits, one can observe the large clearings inside the Reserve, protected on the edges by extensive belts of reeds.
In front of the observatory, on some emerging shrubs and in the large reed bed, in the spring-summer months there is a heronry that hosts nests belonging to seven different species of herons; in the autumn and winter periods the bodies of water host thousands of ducks, coots and other wintering water birds.
The best time to visit is spring, from March to the first half of June; during the summer you should favor dawn or sunset, avoiding the hottest hours, while from September to January the days of Tuesday and Friday are preferable (hunting silence) given that the small Reserve is surrounded by areas where hunting is permitted.
