The Captain's Palace overlooks the main square of the town and is one of the most beautiful and important medieval buildings in the Valdinievole area.
It was the seat of the municipal magistrates until 1773.
It has a powerful and majestic square-shaped structure and is supported by large pillars with a loggia on the ground floor and single-lancet windows on the first and second floors.
In the early 2000s the building underwent a major new restoration, which brought it back to its former glory. The work involved all levels of the building, allowing it to be fully restored and used for cultural and administrative activities.
Today, on the ground floor, an early century schoolroom is rebuilt, on the first floor there is a large meeting room, in the center of which stands a mighty stone pillar with coats of arms; on the south wall, there is a fresco dating back to the 15th century, depicting the Madonna with Child, San Martino and San Jacopo, patrons of the Community of Uzzano. The environment hosts the meetings of the municipal council alternating with the municipal seat of Santa Lucia. On the second floor, the municipal historical archive is kept.
