The Porto de Le Morette is a particularly interesting environment from a botanical and landscape point of view.
It takes its name from the 'morette', which are diving ducks, and in particular from the now rare Ferruginous Duck which was once very common in the Padule.
For some years 'Le Morette' has also been the name of an important part of the Padule di Fucecchio Nature Reserve, near the port, where thanks to maintenance and environmental restoration interventions the marsh is regaining its ancient splendor.
Beyond the bridge begins the walking itinerary in the marshy basin; in front of us, immersed in a poplar grove, the Casotto del Criachi, on which a plaque commemorates the fallen of the massacre.
