The Dogana del Capannone is a building that dates back to 1500. Over the years it has taken on various roles: first a Medici outpost in the territory with the function of customs between the territories of Florence, Lucca and Pisa, then a center used for the storage of agricultural materials and a boat shed. It has hosted civilian homes and local shops. Today it is an important starting point for visiting the Padule and features, inside, the documentation center on the Fucecchio Padule Massacre.

Inside the Customs House of Capannone, the Documentation Centre of the Padule di Fucecchio massacre was born a few years ago.

A collection of very touching documents, stories and events that aim to remember the massacre of defenseless citizens carried out by German troops of the twenty-sixth armored division, which on August 23, 1944 caused 174 deaths.

Inside the Dogana del Capannone there is a large and beautiful room, which takes its name from its shape as a 'hall of arches', inside which meetings, book presentations, theatrical performances and other cultural events are held.

Trips to the Fucecchio marshes are organized by mountain bike, horseback, and physical activity (fitness trail) available every day from February 14th to September 15th.
