Mastromarco, recently nicknamed the seat of the university of cycling, owes its popularity to this sport which has seen some of its greatest champions grow up here, first and foremost Vincenzo Nibali, Sicilian by birth but 'adopted' by this hamlet.
It is here, in fact, that the athlete who won the Vuelta a España, Giro d'Italia and Tour de France lived and trained for many years and it is here that a real hotbed of talents has developed who choose Mastromarco as their place of retreat.
Like Mastromarco, Cerbaia experienced significant economic growth in the post-war period thanks to the birth of agri-food and footwear companies and today, both are the most populous hamlets of the Municipality of Lamporecchio.
