Once past the town of Porciano, you reach Fornello, a small village known as the 'Fornello wall'.
From Fornello you quickly reach Orbignano. The name of this small town is, as Sabatino Ferrali wrote, absolutely original, in the sense that it does not find a counterpart in other areas.
Orbignano is mentioned as early as the 8th century. Around the middle of the 13th century it was a small rural municipality dependent on Pistoia, but the appointment of the Podestà still required the authorization of the Bishop of Pistoia.
