Initially it was intended to be an oratory annexed to and used by the hospital of the same name which welcomed pilgrims and merchants who passed through on the nearby Via Cassia-Clodia.
Over time it was enlarged and transformed, the interior was completely redone in Baroque style.
The simple stone ashlar façade is all that remains of the original fourteenth-century construction.
The bell tower next to the church was built recently, rebuilt in 1903 to replace the previous one which was in a very poor state of repair.
Inside is the Crucifix 'of miracles' and it is for this reason that the church takes its name of Church of Miracles.
