The ancient Parish Museum of Montecatini Alto was inaugurated in 1900 in order to protect and make accessible the treasures of the Castle of Montecatini Alto, which miraculously escaped the sackings of 1554.
A serious theft, which occurred in January 1980, led to its closure to the public. Now it can be visited again and houses the Permanent Nativity Scene of the Provostship of St. Peter the Apostle and the Triumph of Christ, attributed to the Orcagna school: 7 meters wide, the fresco has been returned to its ancient splendor by a recent restoration.
