The path winds along the course of the Balenaia stream, the first stretch of the Vincio river. It begins at the junction of Lamporecchio road with the Provincial Road 123 in Vallicella and ends in Paoliera, not far from the birthplace of Leonardo da Vinci. The path is easily accessible from Lamporecchio road, Orbignanese road or from the provincial road of Montalbano. Even from the center of Vinci it is easy to access the route along the path 12C 'Caterina road'. Along the way there are many hydraulic mills, in good condition, renovated into private homes, or unfortunately reduced to ruins. Some of these mills, built between the sixteenth and the eighteenth century , remained in operation until the 1950s.
