Built in the fourteenth-century, it was formerly located outside the city walls and was next to a small hospital dedicated to welcoming the poor and wayfarers. In the eighteenth century the complex belonged to the 'Beata Vergine dei Bianchi' Company and later it passed to the Saint Leonard parish church Opera.
Today the hospital no longer exists, while the church was restored in the mid-1980s. However, the area is still known as 'Spedalino'.
