description

The castle of Vinacciano is mentioned in a document written by Ottone III to the bishop of Pistoia in the 998 a.C. In the XIV century Uguccione of the Faggiola from Lucca declared war on Pistoia: his soldiers conquered Serravalle Pistoiese, Castellina, Casore del Monte, Marliana and Vinacciano because of their strategic position. He made the inhabitants of Vinacciano to war against Pistoia, but Uguccione didn't win. Later, in the 1318, Castruccio Castracani from Lucca warred against Pistoia and he conquered Vinacciano. In the 1322, after his forces occupied Pistoia, he fortified Vinacciano and decided on his soldiers settled here.
